How waterproof is Cemher Microcement?
Cemher microcement is the only 100% waterproof in every layer system, even before the final sealing process. This makes it the only choice for moisture-prone areas like bathrooms, kitchens, sinks and externals.
How does Cemher's waterproofing comare against other brands?
Cemher distinguishes itself by offering a microcement system that is fully waterproof in every layer, from base coats to top coats, eliminating reliance solely on surface sealers. This comprehensive waterproofing approach ensures superior protection against water ingress, addressing a critical flaw in traditional systems that depend only on sealers for water resistance.
Furthermore, Cemher's microcement system is the only true compliant wet area system in Australia, adhering to the AS 3740:2021 standard, which specifies the requirements for waterproofing domestic wet areas. In contrast, many other brands' microcement systems rely primarily on sealers to provide water resistance, which can be prone to failure over time, leading to moisture penetration and potential damage.
By choosing Cemher, you benefit from a robust, fully integrated waterproofing system that complies with Australian standards, offering enhanced durability and peace of mind for wet area applications.
Does Cemher Microcement crack?
Cemher Microcement is engineered with exceptionally high flexural strength, making it far more resistant to cracking than traditional microcements. In fact, when applied to a 2mm-thick acrylic board as a test, the microcement board can be flexed nearly in half without cracking—a testament to its superior elasticity and durability.
This unparalleled flexibility reassures both homeowners and commercial builders that, when installed to specification, Cemher Microcement will move with the substrate rather than cracking under normal structural shifts or thermal expansion. Unlike conventional rigid coatings, our microcement adapts to substrate movement, ensuring a long-lasting, seamless finish in all applications.
Is Cemher Microcement Anti-slip?
Yes! Cemher Microcement is naturally anti-slip, achieving either a P4 or P5 slip rating, depending on the finish:
- P5 – When finishing in base coats, providing maximum grip.
- P4 – When using the smoother top coat, still meeting slip resistance standards for internal and external floors, including wet areas.
This means Cemher Microcement is fully compliant with Australian slip resistance standards, making it a safe and reliable choice for homes, commercial spaces, and high-traffic areas.
If a smoother finish is preferred, the surface can be sanded further while still maintaining a safe level of grip. So whether you're after a high-traction finish or a more refined feel, Cemher gives you the flexibility to tailor the surface to your needs!
Is Cemher Microcement Stain Resistant?
Yes, Cemher Microcement offers the highest level of stain resistance, setting a new global benchmark in surface protection.
What makes Cemher stand out is our industry-leading water-based polyurethane, which boasts the highest solid content worldwide. This advanced formulation provides an unparalleled protective barrier against stains, ensuring surfaces remain pristine even in high-use environments.
Our stain-proof testing—detailed in our technical data sheets—demonstrates Cemher’s resistance to a wide range of household and commercial chemicals, including oils, wine, coffee, cleaning agents, and other common stain-causing substances.
This superior stain protection makes Cemher Microcement ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, hospitality venues, and high-traffic commercial spaces, where durability and easy maintenance are essential.

What is the thickness of Cemher Microcement?
The Cemher full system is applied at a 3-4mm thickness, consisting of:
- Primer for optimal adhesion
- Reinforcement mesh for structural integrity
- Two base coats for strength and flexibility
- Two top coats for the desired finish and durability
- Two sealer layers for stain resistance and waterproofing
While some brands promote a two-layer system, this is not a professional-grade approach and falls short in performance, longevity, and structural integrity. Skipping essential layers can compromise flexibility, strength, and durability, leading to premature failure.
By completing the full Cemher system, you ensure longevity, maintain warranty compliance, and achieve superior resistance to substrate movement, stains, and daily wear.
When should I select CEMHER Microne Plus Microcement?
CEMHER Microne Plus is ideal forcommercial spaces, high-traffic flooring areas, and outdoor pavements or pathways, where enhanced durability, resistance to wear, and weather exposure are key considerations.
MICROCEMENT CARE & MAINTENANCE
What Cleaner is best for Cemher Microcement?
Cemher Cleaner has been specifically formulated to best maintain and protect Cemher Microcement surfaces. However, any pH-neutral cleaner is also suitable for regular maintenance.
Using a non-abrasive, pH-neutral cleaner ensures that the microcement’s protective sealers remain intact, preserving its durability, stain resistance, and long-term performance. Avoid harsh chemicals, acidic cleaners, or abrasive scrubbing tools, as these can degrade the surface over time.
How Should Cemher Microcement Be Maintained?
Cemher Microcement requires minimal maintenance, similar to tile, stone, or timber surfaces. Simply clean it as needed to maintain its pristine appearance.
With its sealed, non-porous finish, Cemher Microcement is highly resistant to stains and wear, meaning there is no need for ongoing treatments or special upkeep. Regular cleaning with a pH-neutral cleaner is all that’s required to keep it looking flawless for years to come.
Does Cemher Microcement Need Resealing?
Unlike many other microcements that require sealing every 12–24 months, Cemher Microcement does not require resealing for up to 10 years.
This is due to its fully waterproof, impermeable structure, which provides long-lasting protection without the need for frequent maintenance. While traditional microcements rely on surface sealers that degrade over time, Cemher’s multi-layered system ensures superior durability and resistance, making it the most low-maintenance microcement option on the market.
